My name is Jennifer Garcia; I joined the Bamboo school (how the school in Los Verdes is known in the community) in 2015 and since then I have been receiving their support. I became part of the Unum International College program in 2023.
I grew up in a rural environment where opportunities don’t arise easily, but thanks to God and Unum International, I have the opportunity to grow the dream that I’ve had since I was little. I feel very fortunate to belong to this program, especially because since I’ve began my classes at university I’ve learned to grow as a person, respecting the opinions of others. The program has also helped me to grow spiritually, receiving my devotionals. Without God we can’t achieve the dreams we hope for.
One of my main goals is to graduate with a bachelors in math, and be the first in my family to graduate college. That way I’ll be able to help communities with few resources; I would also like to have my own school in a rural area and be able to help those who need it most.
One of my main motivations is God, because He is the one who has opened the doors of blessing. Also, my director Rut Chamalé inspires me; she has demonstrated to me that women can overcome and break barriers, and that dreams are achieved through perseverance, strength, love, and above everything else having faith in God.
